vielen Dank für den Hinweis auf die Studie! Sie liefert ein paar interessante Erkenntnisse, wie es in ein paar Jahren bei uns ausschauen wird. Leider sind noch immer viele Deutsche den neuen Medien gegenüber kritisch eingestellt, siehe hierzu auch meinen Blogeintrag vom 13. Überraschend fand ich auch die Nachricht, dass mehr Frauen in sozialen Netzwerken unterwegs sind als Männer.

bei so einem teuren und erklärungsbedürftigen Produkt wie dem Kauf eines Hauses oder eines Autos zieht man natürlich immer so viele Informationsquellen wie möglich heran, um das Risiko eines Fehlkaufs zu vermeiden. Neben den unternehmenseigenen Produktbeschreibungen und Warentests durch unabhängige Institutionen setzen immer mehr Verbraucher auf die persönlichen Erfahrungen und Weiterempfehlungen Dritter, wie du dies eben auch gemacht hast. Denn diese wirken einfach viel glaubwürdiger als glänzende Imagebroschüren oder der nette Verkaufsberater des Hauses..

It has been a pleasure to discuss some thoughts about WordPress and TYPO3.
I am preparing my emigration to Peru that will take place in June, 2011. How ever I will continuing to read your blog from time to time.

I like the idea of working together on some ideas about WordPress, TYPO3 and other open source applications.

I think you summarized very well the differences. Because it’s possible to be self taught on WordPress (I know some people who learned php while setting their website), it also mean it’s possible to produce dirty code, when Typo3 structures more, and requires much more technical knowledge.

After 7 years of experience on a system, you certainly master all the commas in the code… but i’d be happy to exchange tips about WordPress.
I had a look at your website, and we seem to have several things in common… llike travel agencies and decision to live outside of Europe (but for me it’s in Morocco). I wish you good luck :)

Yes, I agree that WordPress is not only for blogging. I am using it for my personal website as well (see website above). It has no steep learning curve as TYPO3 has.

Both WordPress and TYPO3 I find very attractive for my clients. Though you can do anything with TYPO3, but maybe it is sometimes more than the client needs. Everything is adjustable but not always documented well. Typoscript can be a solution for everything, but is not always easily understandable.

If something is not possible with WordPress (missing hooks) it can be built or extended later on. It is very flexible, idiot proof and very intuitive. I am surprised by the strenght of WordPress.

I have to say that I have over 7 years of experience with TYPO3 and 2 years with WordPress. Maybe you can learn me a lot more about WordPress ;-)

a large part of the advantages of Typo3 also exist in WordPress (front end editing, multi-site, multilingual, and large number of extensions). Though I’m rather curious to have an idea, amidst these extensions, how many are really used (that’s the same with WordPress, I’d say 10% of the extensions available are actually widely used).

Where I slightly disagree is your sentence “WordPress is awesome for blogging”, because it hints it’s for blogging only ^^ That’s a image which sticks to this CMS, but I really think the system has much more power than “just blogging”. Or maybe it’s a question of wording, but for me blogging refers to someone just publishing articles with a time line and categorization, and people commenting.

I’m member of the French WordPress team, and we have created a showcase section on our site. I was impressed to see how complex “blogs” can become, how beautiful also, and how WordPress can be impossible to identify from the front-end. I was a little bit surprised to see that no such section exist on WordPress.de, but it might also reflect the state of the German market.

I have the feeling that with WordPress, you build upon a very flexible and robust solution, when with complex CMS like Typo3 or Drupal, you somehow ‘remove” what you don’t need.

Both approaches have their pros and cons. One of (the only big ?) weakness of WordPress is its very simple workflow, which can be enhanced by plugins, but not so much. WordPress is definitively not a cooperative tool, like a Wiki, or Spip, or Typo3.

One of its very important strong points is its backwards compatibility. Deprecated features are usually supported for at least several releases, and it is still possible to use themes based on early 2.xx versions, because the core includes specific routines to ensure this compatibility. It has been, by the way, rather demanding in terms of ressources when the system was doing its best to remain php4 compatible.
Drupal is a nightmare for that, with a total gap between each major release (not speaking about modules), and I was wondering how is it for Typo3 ? The “long term support” is kind of hinting that a special effort was made for this very version, and that’s it is generally not the case, I am wrong ?

(And yes, I’m a kind of WordPress evangelist… but I also happen to say to potential customers, sorry, it’s not the right solution for you)

Grundsätzlich sind beim Thema Preis viele Faktoren zu berücksichtigen z. B.:
1. Ist die Grafik individuell oder basiert sie auf einer Standardvorlage?
2. Wie verhalten sich die laufenden Kosten?
3. Welche Funktionalitäten braucht der Kunde?
Das ist ein recht umfangreiches Thema über das ich gerne demnächst hier schreibe. Dank für die Idee und auf Bald.
